June Update

Hey everyone!

Pat here. Sorry for the delayed blog!

First off Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. Not just the traditional ones. Stepdads, grandparents, crazy uncles, teachers, mentors and most importantly the ones in waiting like myself.

This is my first time writing one of these so I thought I'd start by kind of talking about my journey to deciding adoption was the right path for me.

Fatherhood is something I knew I was destined for from a young age. I grew up with a fun loving dad and throughout my life I encountered many other great role models that gave me an idea of  what being a father could look like. As Anna mentioned in a previous post, this was a topic of our conversations from the start. Becoming parents has always carried a special place for us.

I think back to those early conversations often because we could have never predicted what that journey would look like.

Anna was first to bring up adoption and Ill admit it took me a bit to fully wrap my head around what that would mean for our family. It was something I hadn't considered before. Ultimately after many talks, phone calls and soul searching the decision became very easy.

Parenthood  was always the goal. Adoption is the path that is leading us to our future little Adams and I couldn't be more excited to meet them when the day comes!!

We are very much still in the waiting game. I like to joke that it's like the longest pregnancy ever! I find a lot of peace in knowing our family will grow when the time is right though.

Anna and the other mothers in waiting set up another meet up and invited all the husbands/partners this time around. It was great to meet other folks in our position, swap stories and give each other whatever support we can over some great food and drinks. It's awesome to see so many different types of people all connect through this one beautiful journey. I'm sure we will meet again soon.

A big takeaway is just learning to trust the process and be comfortable in the unknown. That is definitely a challenge for me but its getting easier with time.

In other news Anna and I are about to celebrate our 17th anniversary of dating and 13th of marriage July 11th! Crazy how time flies.

Thanks for checking back and as always feel free to hit us up if you have any questions
